Common questions

How do I hear a single word?
Tap it. Any Hebrew or English word.

What does a word mean?
Press and hold the word. A small card opens with the meaning and how to say it.

How do I make the text bigger?
Tap the Aa button, then choose a text size. The dark theme is there too.

The sound stopped after a phone call.
iOS does not tell the app when a call ends, so the app waits. Press Play on the lock screen or in the app — it continues from the same verse.

Can I hide the vowel points or the cantillation marks?
Yes — in Settings (the Aa button), under Hebrew.

Does the app need internet?
No. Everything is inside the app. It works on a plane and in a basement.

Where is the introduction video? (Mizmor)
Settings → HELP → "Watch the introduction". Three minutes. Bereishit does not have a video yet.

Bereishit: what is "This week's portion"?
Genesis is read in synagogues in twelve weekly portions each year, starting in the autumn. During those weeks the Library shows a card with the current portion; tap it to open its first chapter. The card can be hidden in Settings.
